Underground Hidden Dog Fences by Dogwatch®
Dedicated Pet Professionals
Our DogWatch dealership proudly serves the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina. PJ and Angela Powers have lived in Old Fort, North Carolina for over 20 years and are native Western North Carolinians. We chose DogWatch because DogWatch has a superior product offering with the FM Safelink design, a 2 year battery life vs. the 3 to 4 month battery life of the competitors, and a user friendly transmitter. We love working with animals (and their humans) and we look forward to having the opportunity to help keep your pet safe. Read More

I’ve been a DogWatch fence customer for almost 25 years. Yes, same fence! I’ve had to have occasional repairs, service calls and replacement of the warrantied receivers. I’ve always received fast, reliable, professional and friendly service. Communication is super easy through text and email. They’ve always shown up and been on time for appointments. I currently have 2 dogs on my fence and one is a husky. Dogwatch is a great product and BRM is an exceptional dealer/service provider.Posted on Google![]()

Our crazy new puppy loved to chase people walking and vehicles driving past on the road! He traveled 40 yards up the driveway to dash out onto our neighborhood road. Angela and PJ worked w/ us to get us scheduled as soon as possible. Training our pup was easy … PJ even provided treats! So glad we made the decision to hire DogWatch of the Blue Ridge Mountains to keep our puppy safe. It was well worth the cost. Sammie has plenty of yard to roam … just not up to the road. Our next-door neighbors have the same system and highly recommended DogWatch/Angela/PJ. They did not disappoint. ❤️Posted on Google![]()

PJ and Angela did a great job with our electric fence needs. We have a rescue GSP and live on a mtn. We now love watching her get to run free around our property. So far so good, she learned very quickly. Give them a try you and your dog will be pleased.Posted on Google![]()

It's been a full year since PJ installed my DogWatch fence and I've got to say that this system exceeds my expectations. My dog has not crossed the line once since his training.. and only once during training which was my fault. He's 18 months and still a very excitable boy, but goes nowhere near the boundaries. Angela & PJ are top notch when it comes to customer service, communication and response time. I highly recommend!Posted on Google![]()

PJ and Angela listen. They know their product and they know dogs and they listen. Very efficient and highly effective. Had done two other products and were a waste of money. The system works and my Siberian Huskey figured it out really quick.Posted on Google![]()

Dogwatch of the Blue Ridge Mountains has your pet fencing needs covered! PJ and Angela are super helpful and easy to work with, respond quickly to your questions and concerns, and get the job done. We had to move our containment system just a little (after installation) and PJ came next day and got it fixed. Super easy to work with! This is our 2nd system they have installed, and both systems work great! And the best part, our pupper has a great space to play in and roam, and we have peace of mind for their safety.Posted on Google![]()

We have been very pleased with our DogWatch of the Blue Ridge Mountains experience. PJ and Angela have been responsive and helpful each time we’ve purchased anything (our DogWatch system, accessories, batteries, etc.) and each time we’ve had a question. Great overall experience. We bought a new house and there was a dogwatch system already installed (but it was very old). PJ came out and did an evaluation of the system. He fixed what he could and now we have the ability to let our dog run free off a lead safely in the backyard. Absolutely what we wanted when we initially called. Highly recommended!Posted on Google![]()

Angela and PJ are great at responding to customers needs. I had them install my fence a couple years ago and had worked flawlessly. PJ walked me through the best options for my installation and showed me how everything worked. He also helped me train my Black Lab on the boundaries. I recently had lightning run in on the fence controller, I messaged them and they quickly sent out everything I needed to change the control box. Very friendly and excellent work/customer service. I high recommend you contact them if you need a fence system. I promise you will not regret it.Posted on Google![]()

Angela and PJ were a pleasure to work with—professional, fast, and thorough. They came on one of the hottest days of the summer, with temperatures in the 90s, and PJ completed the fence across five wooded acres! Amazing. Angela was incredibly helpful in assisting us with choosing and fitting collars for our two dogs, billing, and contact service. You can tell they both love dogs and are passionate about what they do. Highly recommend!Posted on Google![]()

Fantastic buying/installation experience with this husband/wife team for Dog Watch hidden fences! Angela in the office listened to my dog fence needs, understood my challenges, and explained what Dog Watch could offer to help. She helped me pick the right system for my needs and then coordinated everything. PJ arrived only a few days later and did the best, neatest install I could imagine. Missed all the utility lines, cut a small slit for the wire across an asphalt driveway, and buried the wire through woods despite roots and obstacles. He installed the wire to perfection and then got down to training me and our dog to life with the new fence. The dog is learning and I feel good about finishing her training. I have had “The Other Brand” at 2 houses previously and have never felt so listened to, valued and taken care of as I just have with Dog Watch, represented by Angela and PJ. They are top notch, and I would recommend them to anyone. Great job, y'all!!

Customer Testimonial
We love the DogWatch system and so does our lab, “Bear”. We have trained him three times a day for seven days now. He is running in our yard and we are now training him to catch a Frisbee (which is going to take a little longer than the training for the DogWatch system!)

How Do DogWatch Underground Hidden Dog Fences Work?
A hidden fence is an underground dog fence system that uses an electronic signal to keep your dog within a designated area and away from potential dangers. An underground wire transmits a radio signal to your pet's receiver collar. Watch the video to see how it works!
DogWatch has been making Hidden Dog Fence systems since 1990. Our fences are sold and installed by our network of over 200 independent DogWatch Dealers worldwide.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do hidden dog fences work?
Hidden fences are created by burying a ‘boundary wire’ a few inches underground around your property. The buried wire carries a harmless, low level radio signal from a transmitter installed in your house or garage. Your pet wears a lightweight, waterproof receiver collar that recognizes the radio signal. As your pet approaches the buried wire, the receiver collar emits a warning signal (audible or vibration). If your pet travels further, he will receive a mild electrical stimulation (also called a “correction”) from the receiver collar. Through a training program, your pet learns to recognize his fence boundaries and learns to stop at the warning signal. Although there are differences in some of the product features, this is how all hidden fences work (DogWatch®, Invisible Fence® and other radio fence brands.)
With an indoor system, the hidden wire runs around your couch, under the lip of the counter, around the trash or across a doorway or wherever you need to create either a containment area or an “off-limits” area. We also have “wireless” indoor units that do not require placement of a boundary wire. Give us a call to discuss your options.
How does my dog learn where the hidden fence boundary is?
Training is an important part of the process. After we install the hidden fence, we work with you to train your pet. The training includes teaching your pet to recognize the containment area boundaries through a combination of voice commands, audible warning signals from the receiver collar and visual flags that are set in the yard where the pet hears the warning alert. With training, the dog remembers the placement of the flags and associates the flags with the warning signal. As your pet learns, the flags are slowly taken away. Your pet also learns that if he continues beyond the flags and warning alert, he will receive a correction (a mild electrical stimulation from the collar). After training, most dogs do not cross the hidden boundary; they usually stop before the warning signal to avoid the correction.
We will initiate the training and provide instructions and support so you can complete and reinforce the training. After the initial training, your dog goes through a training session with you for a few minutes each day for about two weeks. We will develop a plan to meet the specific training needs of your pet(s).
Will the stimulation from a hidden dog fence collar hurt my dog?
The “stimulation” from the collar is a sensation similar to the static shock you receive after walking across a carpet in your socks. It is a brief, unpleasant sensation designed to deter a pet from leaving the boundary. After training, most dogs do not cross the hidden boundary and thus do not receive a correction.
The electronic stimulation will not “burn” your pet. In rare instances, prolonged or improper use of an electronic collar has resulted in a pet developing pressure sores on their necks. This situation is easily avoided by ensuring that the collar is fit properly and removed regularly. DogWatch strongly recommends removing your dog’s receiver collar daily when not in use.
How much do hidden fences cost?
The cost for a DogWatch Hidden Fence is almost always much less than traditional fencing. The cost varies based on which system is right for you, the number of pets, the size of the property, how many sidewalk and driveway cuts, if you want internal “garden loops”, etc. Contact us for a free consultation and an estimate for your property.
In addition to costing less than traditional fences, hidden fences provide more flexibility and more secure containment than traditional fences. For example, you can contain your dog in your yard, but keep him out of a pool area, garden or driveway gate. Plus, your dog cannot jump over, chew through or dig under a hidden fence. And hidden fences don’t need to be painted and don’t deteriorate like traditional fences.
There usually isn’t much difference in the cost of a DogWatch® fence and other Dealer installed brands (such as Invisible Fence®.) Retail brands may seem to cost less than the Dealer installed brands, but they do not include installation (which can be challenging), training (which is very important), ongoing support or a good Warranty program. Also, Dealer installed products tend to be better quality than retail brands.
Is there a guarantee on the DogWatch Hidden Fence system?
We offer a Lifetime Limited Warranty on our outdoor systems professionally installed by DogWatch of the Blue Ridge Mountains. There is also a limited 30-day money-back guarantee if you are not satisfied with the system.
